You’ve probably heard some unpleasant info about the juice cleanse diet, but there is actually a proper way to do it. You primarily have to consult a physician before doing a juice cleanse diet, especially if you plan to do it for more than 3 days or if you have a health condition.
You’ll be consuming all fruits and vegetables when you go on a juice cleanse diet. It’s basically a form of a detox diet. You stick to that diet for a short period of time, usually 1 to 3 days. Some programs entail that you consume one or more smoothies to provide for your fat, protein and other nutrient needs. These smoothie foods fuel your energy and at the same time reduce your hunger. Some juice cleanse diet programs include snacks and vegan meals.
Does the juice detox diet work? Proponents of the diet say that it promotes the natural detoxification process of your body. It also provides you with a healthy diet sans the caffeine, sugar, refined foods and other substances that deplete your energy. You can jumpstart your day with a healthier way of eating.
Foods consumed in the cleanse are rich in nutrients, antioxidants and phytochemicals mainly because they are raw and organic juices. Your body can easily absorb them because they are in liquid form. New components have been added to the cleanse to enhance your energy as well, such as snacks and vegan and gluten-free meals. These also make your experience of the cleanse less extreme.
You use a juicer or a juice press when you prepare your juice cleanse diet at home. In many cities, you can also avail of the cleanse in local juice bars or larger store chains. Try searching online, you can access cleanse programs, too.
- One or five days before doing the actual cleanse, you first do some preparations. Otherwise, if you quickly jump into doing the cleanse, you might experience cravings, headaches and some withdrawal symptoms. It’s called the pre-cleanse stage where you also increase your intake of fruits, veggies and fluids.
- Then you do the juice cleanse diet for 3 days where you take at least 32 ounces of smoothie or juice. Half of this amount is green vegetable juice. Milder cleanses include smoothies and vegan foods. They may be used as substitutes at the same time. Between each of these “meals” you may consume lukewarm or room temperature water. You consume the juices or smoothies 2 hours apart while you take the final drink at least 3 hours before sleeping. What about hunger pangs? Some cleanse programs tend to suggest taking vegetable broth or eating small snacks such as a piece of fruit, salad or carrot and celery. A modified juice cleanse has been devised for certain people where salad is included each day for lunch and dinner.
- You then break the cleanse after your juice fast. Over the next several days, food is gradually reintroduced into your diet. Not everyone can do the cleanse, that’s why it is important to be informed about the juice cleanse diet prior to adhering to a certain program. Note the side effects of the cleanse and learn how to deal with hunger along with other concerns about the juice cleanse diet.
